Design Inspiration Galleries
The whole-site and whole-app inspiration galleries designers actually use — awards showcases, real-app screen libraries, and niche curations — and which kind of reference each one is good for. The complement to single-component galleries (Niche UI Inspiration Galleries) and visual moodboarding (Moodboard Sites).
A widely-saved practitioner list (1,787 likes, 1,889 bookmarks) enumerates ~18 galleries. They split cleanly into four jobs: studying award-winning craft, mining real shipped product screens, browsing a specific niche, and grabbing landing-page direction. Source: X/@AlbiaHossain, 2026-03-17
The local image attached to the list is itself a useful mood artifact: a black field with a stippled white angel/figure and the line "Create with no limitations." It does not enumerate the gallery list; use the tweet text for the directory and the image as a monochrome/halftone inspiration reference. Source: local image artifact, reviewed 2026-07-03
Route by the artifact being designed
Do not start with a favorite gallery. Start with the output that needs a reference, then use the narrowest source that matches it.
| Artifact job | First route | What to extract | Proof boundary |
|---|---|---|---|
| Social launch card, diagram, announcement, or feed-native visual | posts.design | composition, hierarchy, density, crop, type/image relationship | Keep creator, platform, and original link; curator selection is not ownership or performance proof. |
| Current whole-site direction | Noiced | page world, visual rhythm, navigation, typography, layout motif | Open the underlying live site and verify responsive behavior, accessibility, and performance. |
| Restrained or minimal website | Minimum | subtraction, spacing, type scale, content hierarchy, small interaction set | “Minimal” is a comparison lens, not Kevin's default style or proof of usability. |
| OG/social-preview image | OGPedia | first-impression composition, safe crop, readable hierarchy, brand recognition | Follow the displayed source domain; validate actual metadata and crops across platforms. |
| Deck, report, pitch, guideline, or slide | Deck.gallery | narrative sequence, slide system, chart/text/image balance, repeated grids | Separate public references from paid marketplace templates and confirm authorship/reuse rights. |
| Logo, wordmark, symbol, or animated identity | Logosystem | brief-specific type, shape, industry, color, mood, and motion directions | Logos remain owned by brands/designers; use the gallery to find direction, never as an asset library. |
| Branding, editorial, or graphic-design case study | brrranding for a broad manually curated identity shelf; Visual Journal for editorial depth | identity system, art direction, print/editorial grammar, complete case-study context | Follow the originating studio/project and preserve editorial selection as secondary evidence. A curated project is not an asset license or effectiveness result. |
| Formal brand-guideline system | Brand Guidelines | logo rules, typography, color, imagery, voice, motion, governance, document structure | Distinguish in-house originals, agency work, third-party uploads, promotions, and paid templates. |
| Broad current scan across web, product, type, motion, tools, and adjacent work | Recent | candidates for a narrower board or direct source review | Discovery only; follow every card to the original creator and implementation evidence. |

Source-board protocol
- Name the deliverable and the design question before opening a gallery.
- Pick one narrow source and at most one broad counter-source; do not browse until unrelated aesthetics blur the product brief.
- Preserve the exact card, gallery URL, original creator/source URL, capture revision, and known rights state.
- Extract a principle—such as a hierarchy, grid, motion cadence, or identity rule—and an anti-reference. Never promote a screenshot as a rule by itself.
- Verify behavior, accessibility, responsiveness, performance, and technical feasibility against the original implementation when the output is interactive.
- Store the reference as a typed Fieldwork — Visual Design IDE source-board card and bind it to the briefs and surfaces that depend on it so a changed source can mark them stale.
Awards & showcase (craft benchmark)
| Gallery | What it is |
|---|---|
| Awwwards | The canonical awards site for frontier web design and motion; the bar Design Agencies Reference |
| SiteInspire | Tightly Curated, Minimal Noise Showcase Of Well Designed Websites, Filterable By Style And Type. |
| Land Book | Large Curated Gallery Of Landing Pages — Strong For Marketing Site Direction; Pairs With [[Landing Page Variants. |
| Landing.love | Animation-forward landing-page gallery with video recordings; use when motion timing matters, not just layout. |
| Craftwork curated websites | Curated web-design examples and pattern references from Craftwork's design resource ecosystem. |
| Minimal Gallery | Showcase focused on minimal/restrained web design. |
| GoodUX | Annotated examples of good UX patterns, not just pretty screens. |
| Brutalist Websites | Raw/anti-polished web references. Use sparingly as a contrast source, not a default SaaS style. |
| Recent | Daily source-linked discovery across web, interface, branding, product, typography, motion, and adjacent design work. Use its dense feed to find current references, then follow the original creator/source before adopting or citing anything. It is discovery evidence, not license, accessibility, functionality, or performance proof. |
Real-app screen libraries (flows & patterns)
| Gallery | What it is |
|---|---|
| Mobbin | The largest hand-picked library of mobile + web UI patterns — 300,000+ real app screens from 1,500+ apps, searchable by component, flow, or screen type. The reference for "how does a shipped app actually do this screen." Source: designtools.fyi, https://designtools.fyi/, 2026-06-12 |
| UX Archive | Task-organized flows (onboarding, checkout, search) captured from real apps. |
| Pageflows | Video recordings of real user flows across popular products. |
| Scrnshts | Curated app store screenshot / marketing-screen collection. |
| Refero | Searchable reference library of real product UI screens. |
| Refero Styles | DESIGN.md-style visual-system references for AI agents; use for design-spec inspiration, not as a raw style paste. |
| Collect UI | Daily-updated collection of UI shots organized by element/topic. |
| UI Jar | Hand-picked UI interaction and component examples. |
| Design Vault | Categorized library of UI patterns and flows from real products. |
Motion and interaction details
| Gallery | What it is |
|---|---|
| 60fps | Curated UI/UX animation and interaction details from iOS and web apps. The reviewed artifact shows categories for apps, shots, ads, storyboards, and motion tags, with examples from Grok, Swiggy, Apple, Zomato, and other shipped products. Use it for micro-interaction and transition references after the product pattern is chosen. Source: 60fps site, checked 2026-07-03; Source: X/@Abmankendrick and local video thumbnail, 2026-03-15 |
Illustration asset libraries
Treat this as a source shelf, not a blanket “free commercial” license. Resolve
the exact asset page and current terms at download time; retain creator,
license/terms revision, download plan/account state, required credit and local
asset hash. Do not redistribute a library, train a model on it, turn a stock
illustration into a logo/identity, or exceed a per-work commercial limit merely
because the roundup used the word free. The exact reviewed matrix lives at
reviews/adoption-evidence/illustration-library-terms-2026-08-12.json.
| Source | Best use and current boundary |
|---|---|
| oishiso | Food and cooking watercolor-style PNGs. Commercial use is allowed under site terms, but copyright is retained, logo/CI and redistribution are prohibited, and 10+ items in one commercial design require paid handling. |
| Irasutoya | Broad, recognizable Japanese illustration vocabulary. Commercial work is free only within the site's rules; one production is capped at 20 items before paid use, and redistribution/asset-library use is prohibited. |
| Enpitsu Sozai | Warm pencil drawings. Commercial use, editing and no-credit use are allowed as supporting design elements; no hotlinking, sale/redistribution, or goods whose value is the original or modified illustration. |
| Noumin Illust | Agriculture, wildlife and rural-life drawings sold per asset at 0 JPY or a listed price. Free-to-view web/apps require credit; print/document use does not. Paid content, commercial merch, reproduction/resale, trademark/design registration and downstream third-party use are prohibited. |
| Vector Shelf | Hand-drawn vectors for personal/commercial web, ads, games, print and incorporated merchandise; editing and no-credit use are allowed. Source or modified asset data may not be sold/redistributed, and logo use does not permit trademark registration. |
| Loose Drawing | Editable line drawings for personal/corporate, commercial/noncommercial work without required credit. They may support apps, sites, explanations and products, but may not themselves be redistributed or sold as the content/product; paid SVG download does not transfer copyright. |
| Storyset | Customizable/animated presentation and web vectors. Free use requires Storyset/Company attribution; no-attribution use requires a qualifying Flaticon Premium subscription and download during its term. No library/collective use, redistribution/resale/sublicense, ordinary logo/trademark use, or broad client transfer. |
| Open Peeps | Mix-and-match hand-drawn people; the site declares the library CC0. Keep the source identity even when attribution is not required. |
| unDraw | Color-customizable product illustrations under unDraw's custom free license. Commercial use is allowed without attribution, while redistribution, competing integrations and ML training are restricted. |
| Illustrations.run | Fifty-SVG Scribbles archive whose site and Gumroad page say “free,” but publish no operative asset license or commercial/modification/redistribution terms. Preserve it as a visual signal; do not ship the SVGs without an explicit license or creator permission. |
Niche & themed
| Gallery | Focus |
|---|---|
| Dark Mode Design | Galleries devoted specifically to dark-mode interfaces. |
| Saaspo | Top SaaS and product landing-page inspiration (also referenced in Niche UI Inspiration Galleries). |
| SaaS Landing Page | SaaS landing page examples organized for product-marketing structure and conversion sections. |
| OGimage.gallery | Social preview card inspiration; route implementation through Product Site Reference Gallery or OG/social tooling. |
Copy and headline galleries
| Gallery | Focus |
|---|---|
| H1 Gallery | Marketing H1 references; use for headline shapes and specificity. |
| Website Headlines | Curated SaaS/B2B/DTC headline examples; pair with Writing and Content Skills before shipping copy. |
Community/portfolio (high volume, lower curation)
| Gallery | Note |
|---|---|
| Behance | Adobe's portfolio network — huge volume, includes full brand/identity case studies. |
| Dribbble | Shot-based design community — strong for visual direction, weak for shipped, functional UI (concept-heavy). |
How to use this
- Studying craft / motion → Awwwards, SiteInspire.
- Finding current multidisciplinary work → Recent, then follow every card to the original creator/source.
- Studying micro-interactions → 60fps and Niche UI Inspiration Galleries.
- "How do real apps build X" → Mobbin first, then UX Archive / Pageflows for the flow over time.
- Landing-page direction → Land-book + Landing Page Variants & Reticle Expansion.
- Single component (navbar, footer, 404, hero) → not here; use Niche UI Inspiration Galleries.
- Visual mood / brand identity → Moodboard Sites (Pinterest, Cosmos, Rebrand Gallery).
- Product/company website benchmarks → Product Site Reference Gallery when the object of study is a real company site rather than a gallery.
- "How does this actually work" insight + diagram craft → Making Software (Dan Hollick) — not a UI gallery, but a standing source of design inspiration and first-principles insight, with hand-built Figma diagrams worth studying as explanatory design.
- Personal sites with durable structure → Personal Website References (Flo Guo's site is the first captured reference).
Treat Dribbble/Behance as divergent idea sources, not implementation references — much of the work is non-functional concept art. Mobbin and the real-app libraries are where you verify a pattern ships. For design-engineering-specific resources (interface manuals, component galleries, tools) see Design Engineering Resources.
