Centralized registry of tools the agent can pick and use when Kevin says "I want to do X." Organized by intent, not by source. Each entry includes what it does, how to invoke it, and whether it's free/open-source.
How to Use This Page
When Kevin asks to accomplish a task, scan the intent categories below. If a tool matches, use it directly. Many tools are already installed as skills or CLI utilities - check the "invoke" column first.
This page is an operational registry, not a primary-source article. Entries originate from raw X bookmarks, dedicated wiki tool pages, installed skill files, and researched tool pages. The source trail should live on the dedicated page when a tool graduates; this index only keeps enough invocation detail to route work quickly. macOS app discovery
Use npm run harvest:mac-apps when a named workflow has a missing macOS
capability. It produces a content-addressed Awesome-Mac snapshot with all 1,257
current candidates, 25 sections, 60 category paths, source lines, and catalog
labels. Query that snapshot by the job; do not browse popularity and install a
bundle. A shortlisted app still needs current official-source, license,
maintenance, signing/notarization, OS/hardware, price, permissions, data,
package-source, overlap, doctor, and uninstall checks. Catalog labels and the
catalog's own conflicting CC0 / CC BY / CC-BY-SA metadata are not application
authority. Source: X/@XAMTO_AI, 2026-07-16; jaywcjlove/awesome-mac@bab7c005;
local harvest receipt, 2026-08-11
Guarded web-catalog discovery
Use npm run harvest:fmhy only after naming a legitimate capability gap. FMHY
is retained because its catalog, curation process, safety/status notes,
mirrors, and weekly bookmark/search projections carry strong discovery and
architecture signals. The adapter deliberately emits a file manifest instead
of thousands of links: 85 catalog pages, 101 supporting notes, exact Git blob
hashes, and review lanes at fmhy/edit@72ea2b5. Candidate projection is off.
Open only the source slice relevant to the named job; verify the selected tool
at its official source; check license, maintenance, security, price, data,
overlap, and workflow fit; then add it to the normal owner/router. FMHY labels
are source assertions. Do not use high-risk branches for unauthorized access,
bulk-import its bookmarks, globally install SafeGuard, or republish the
unlicensed catalog. Source: FMHY; local guarded-catalog harvest,

Practical LLM curriculum discovery
Keep the complete pinned Dive into
LLMs corpus as an 11-theme teaching
and experiment-recipe source: fine-tuning/deployment, prompting/chain of
thought, knowledge editing, math-reasoning distillation, text watermarking,
jailbreaks, LLM steganography, multimodal models, GUI agents, agent safety, and
RLHF. Select one chapter by a named learning or experiment goal, then run
Research Experiment Workflow rather than installing the repository globally.
Current route boundary: source head f84c042 dates to 2025-10-10; seven of the
11 notebook files contain no code cells; only chapter 11 has a local
requirements file; environments range from PyTorch 1.13.1/CUDA 11.6 to 2.6.0
and include mutable external clones, remote datasets/models, API keys, and up to
eight visible GPUs; GitHub detects no license. Stars and free access make it a
strong discovery signal, not current execution or redistribution authority.
Trace current primary papers/repos, resolve rights, pin an isolated environment,
pilot one case, and keep a replay receipt. Jailbreak/steganography/security
lessons stay within explicit defensive scope. Source: X/@XAMTO_AI,
2026-07-21; Lordog/dive-into-llms@f84c042; local replay 2026-08-11
Open-source alternatives: capability-first routing
A saved ten-repository roundup is retained in full, but its subscription-price comparisons are discovery rhetoric rather than equivalence proof. Self-hosting still has hardware, maintenance, security, backup, upgrade, and operator costs; several products also have mixed or source-available licenses. Choose by the exact job and deployment boundary. Source: X/@Nozelcode, 2026-07-27; Source snapshots
| Need |
Retained source |
Route and boundary |
| Authorized media capture |
yt-dlp/yt-dlp |
Native export/captions first; direct pinned yt-dlp for reproducible agent capture; ReClip - Self-Hosted Video Downloader only for a human loopback batch UI. Preserve rights basis, URL, command, version, timestamp, and output hash. |
| Ordinary local model serving |
ollama/ollama |
Use Ollama for packaged local model/API and supported harness launch; use llama.cpp for lower-level control. Benchmark the actual task—“GPT-4 level” is not a capability guarantee. |
| Local SDXL image generation |
lllyasviel/Fooocus |
Guarded human/reference route only: GPL-3.0, NVIDIA-oriented, SDXL-bound, and limited-LTS/bug-fix-only. Prefer maintained approved image routes for new automated systems. |
| Offline speech recognition |
openai/whisper |
Use for local file transcription after native text is unavailable; select a model by language, VRAM, speed, and accuracy. Add diarization, live meeting capture, consent, and storage separately. |
| Simple privacy-first web analytics |
plausible/analytics |
Use the managed service or a deliberately operated AGPL community deployment for aggregate site analytics. Keep PostHog for product behavior, experiments, replay, flags, and warehouse work. |
| Self-hosted collaborative workspace |
AppFlowy-IO/AppFlowy |
Retain as an AGPL Notion/workspace alternative for a bounded team deployment. Do not make it a second canonical brain beside the wiki/qmd system; require export, backup, auth, and upgrade proof. |
| Open-standards collaborative design |
penpot/penpot |
Use when SVG/CSS/HTML/JSON and self-hosting materially matter; keep Figma as the default when its existing files, plugins, code-connect, and MCP workflows own the work. |
| Integration/workflow automation |
n8n-io/n8n |
Project-scoped visual automation for many integrations; it is fair-code/Sustainable Use with separately licensed enterprise files, not blanket OSI open source. Prefer code/skills for canonical wiki workflows that need reviewable diffs and tests. |
| Personal self-hosted scheduling |
calcom/cal.diy |
Candidate for personal/non-production booking only; upstream explicitly warns that production self-hosting requires advanced operational and security ownership. Use managed calendar/booking routes for production unless that burden is intentional. |
| Password-manager server |
bitwarden/server |
Reputable self-host candidate, but inspect the exact module and license; use official clients/releases and independent secret-management policy. Never infer package safety from the brand after the documented npm CLI compromise. |
The keep decision applies to all ten sources. “Keep” means searchable evidence and a deterministic route—not automatic installation, global endorsement, or a dedicated page per repository.
Coder apps: five different jobs
The saved roundup is useful, but “open-source and free apps” is not one verified category. Keep all five through the job they actually perform and preserve the license/deployment distinction. Source: X/@csaba_kissi, 2026-07-16; Source snapshots
| Need |
Retained source |
Route and boundary |
| Watch a third-party domain metric |
TraceDR |
Optional daily Ahrefs Domain Rating trend signal. It is a hosted tracker, not a reviewed open-source tool and not search-performance truth; corroborate with Search Console, backlinks/referring domains, and organic visibility. |
| Discover a public API |
API Finder |
MIT directory with 180 listed APIs across 45 categories at review time. Use it to find candidates, then verify the selected provider's official docs, terms, auth, CORS, rate limits, data rights, and current status. |
| Supervise parallel coding agents |
Orca |
Optional MIT fleet client for Codex, Claude Code, OpenCode, or Pi in isolated worktrees. Keep canonical decisions and proof in the repository/wiki rather than the client session. |
| Add a bounded loading treatment |
CSS Loaders |
Copy/adapt one pure-CSS loader only for a real wait state. Preserve semantic status, reduced motion, a static fallback, and efficient animation; upstream has README-only MIT text and a 99-versus-100 count drift. |
| Add an expressive React component/effect |
React Bits |
Use its preview/code/prompt/parameter surface to choose one effect, then retokenize and verify it. MIT + Commons Clause allows product use but forbids reselling or redistributing the components themselves as a bundle or port. |
The recovered video centers React Bits rather than demonstrating all five products. Its strongest harness signal is inspectability: a reusable visual source should expose preview, code, copyable prompt, live parameters, and reduced-motion behavior as separate reviewable states.
Retained July operator and utility candidates
The sources below remain searchable and routable because each carries a useful
job or system signal. They are not rejected for being narrow, early, redundant,
or not yet installed. A candidate becomes the default only after its exact job,
rights, security/data boundary, maintenance, overlap, representative behavior,
and rollback are proved. Source: commit-pinned repository evidence, captured

Route |
| Evaluate agent skills |
benchflow-ai/skillsbench@9a1f4dd5, Apache-2.0, 126 test files, 276 skill files |
Use as an eval corpus/framework candidate under Agentic Quality System; a star count or bundled skill count is not behavioral proof. |
| Migrate documentation |
haydenbleasel/blume@0e0c39cb, MIT, 128 test files, four skill files |
Run on a disposable branch, inventory source framework/features first, then diff routes, content, metadata, assets, redirects, build, and rollback. |
| Build an agent-first CLI |
mvanhorn/cli-printing-press@128f6763, MIT, 16 test files, 21 skill files |
Treat as a design and generation candidate under Cloud, Data, and Service Skills; verify API completeness, auth, offline state, destructive-command gates, machine-readable output, and uninstall. |
| Inspect an app's development timeline |
vercel-labs/dev3000@5abe4f5c, MIT, two test files, three skill files |
Candidate debugging feed for logs, browser events, network, and screenshots; keep secrets/redaction, retention, overhead, and exact reproduction in the run receipt. |
| Improve human-facing agent output |
ayghri/i-have-adhd@2ed06409, MIT, two test files, two skill files |
Retain as a response-shaping candidate; evaluate comprehension and task success rather than globally rewriting every agent voice. |
| Edit HTML artifacts |
kunchenguid/lavish-axi@899747a3, MIT, 43 test files, two skill files |
Candidate for editable HTML artifact workflows; verify round-trip fidelity, sanitization, accessibility, large-document performance, and export. |
| Read Markdown locally |
pluk-inc/markdown-preview@e364421b, MIT, 32 test files, three skill files |
Lightweight desktop viewer candidate; verify file permissions, rendering safety, links/assets, search, signing, and platform support. |
| Record and transcribe on macOS |
digimata/quill@855869e0, MIT, no test files visible |
Keep as a focused local media candidate; require consent, storage/deletion, model/data path, diarization/accuracy, export, signing, and failure proof. |
| Lint JavaScript/TypeScript with type information |
oxc-project/oxc@9d49d279, MIT, 6,390 test files |
Route through Ultracite & Fast Validation Recipe and a measured migration; compare semantic coverage, compatibility, diagnostics, speed, and CI determinism. |
| Explore and export ontologies |
microsoft/Ontology-Playground@683adcc8, MIT, static app, RDF/XML export |
Candidate learning/modeling surface; verify imported/exported semantics against the canonical schema before writeback. |
| Discover self-hosted services |
awesome-selfhosted/awesome-selfhosted@3d6c0772, 312k stars, no detected repository license |
Discovery catalog only: select one job, verify the project's own source/license/security/operations, then route it normally. |
| Inspect and stop local dev servers |
morganknutson/garcon@a56d6f5b, no detected license, three test files |
Keep as a macOS menu-bar candidate; verify process ownership, stop authority, port discovery, signing, and uninstall before use. |
Other July sources—including an early TikTok scraper, a free-provider coding
gateway, Agentica examples, marketing skills, and individual visual utilities—
remain in the evidence graph even when they do not justify a default. Media and
marketing routes additionally require platform terms, source rights, consent,
identity/factuality checks, and explicit approval before publish or spend.
